Water quality status in Bojong mangrove area, Pangandaran
Abstract
Bojong Salawe is a hamlet in Karangjaladri Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency, West Java Province. Bojong Salawe has a mangrove conservation which is located around the bridge on the main route to Bojong Salawe beach. The mangrove conservation area is about 30 hectares with a total of 12,000 trees. The decline in mangrove forests occurs due to several reasons including expansion of coastal area development, expansion of pond development, sea water abrasion, and excessive logging. The quality of mangrove waters is an important component that affects the growth of mangroves. Therefore, research on the quality of mangrove waters needs to be carried out within the framework of finding alternative approaches and solutions in efforts to manage land and water resources in muddy coastal areas (mangrove). Based on the research results, the status of water quality in the mangrove area in Bojong Salawe is quite varied and is still within the threshold of quality standards for mangrove waters, and is suitable for the life of organisms in the waters.
