Abstract

Responding to natural or man-made disasters, in a timely and effective manner, can reduce deaths and injuries as well as economic losses. Based on the assumption that better information leads to effective decision-making and more effective crisis response performance, research projects have emerged that apply advanced IT solutions in the field of crisis management. This research paper provides an overview of the most recent projects, in the Uttarakhand. Moreover, the study highlights that the use of robust and scalable IT solutions can greatly facilitate access to the right information, by the right people and organizations, at the right time.
