Global perspectives on reservation policies in public employment: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Abstract
This discussion explores reservation policies in public employment across diverse countries, emphasizing legal frameworks, affirmative action measures, merit-based selection, administrative efficiency, and social justice. Through an examination of India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the Nordic countries, common themes emerge regarding the promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workforce. Administrative efficiency should not be compromised while implementing the reservation policy. While approaches differ, the overarching goal is to address historical injustices and build more equitable and representative public sector institutions.
