An event study on the impact of unethical practices on valuation of shares among the listed banks in India
Abstract
The Indian banking sector is affected by the frauds that are internally committed by the banks. The unethical practices such as frauds have a negative influence on the banks. The non-financial factors like unethical practices have reduced the trust among the investors which ultimately impacts the share prices of the banks. The study aims to understand the unethical practices committed by the banks which came into light from 2017 to 2019 and to analyze the impact of unethical practices on the value of shares of four Indian listed banks. The Regression test reveals that the banks experience a fall in the share price and there is a significant impact after the happening of the event.
