Abstract

Cultural influence refers to the global interactions among different nations, both large and small, strong and weak, through processes of integration, and contact on the basis of the preservation of independent cultural identities, as well as the acculturation of new cultural values. Once integrated into the international community, nations and ethnic groups have the opportunity to expand globally and contribute more to international affairs on various aspects. Vietnamese history shows that the process of cultural exchange, acculturation and localization of foreign cultural elements has many distinctive characteristics and consequences. In the process of cultural adaptation and integration, Vietnam's historical, geographical, and socio-cultural conditions play a crucial role in identifying the degree of influence of external factors. Therefore, it’s essential to understand the formation, development, and impact of mainstream foreign cultures on Vietnamese culture. This article focuses on analyzing and citing some key aspects of the flow of Western culture into Vietnam, thereby providing some insights into the process of adaptation and localization of these foreign cultural elements.
