Abstract

Though the concept professionalism is supposed to be developed, in the recent days by the influence of corporate society, the concept professionalism was, in fact, as old as the concept profession. When the notion of corporate society was about to be developed in its full form, it was thought, in general, that the use of the term professional was, sometimes, negative; but this negative use of the term used to express the honour towards some professions. For example, for a scientist, to be professional, means to be away from Excellency as it demands some kind of uniqueness which is absent in any kind of professionalism. But this is a wrong assumption. Each and every one, even a scientist, should be professional, if he wants to get success in his life. That is why this paper is meant for a detail analysis of the concept professionalism in relation to the concept of duty, niskāma karma, seva as well as svadharma.
