The immediate effect of foam rolling in Paraspinal Muscle spasm, pain and range of motion in desk job workers
Abstract
Aim: The aim of the study was to find out the immediate effect of foam rolling on paraspinal muscle spasm, pain and range of motion of lumbar spine in desk job workers.
Relevance of study: In desk job workers due to sitting for long period of time there there is high prevalence of low back pain. There is increase in pressure over the lower back region which leads do pain, muscle spasm and decrease range of motion. There is risk of injury in such individual. So knowing the effect of foam rolling on the paraspinal muscle will help for treatment. The device is easy to use covers large area decrease the therapist load and can treat more patients at a time.
Methodology: In this study 39 individuals were selected as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria. NPRS & Modified Schoberth Test was used pre and post treatment to rule out pain and range of motion.
Result: The result shows extremely significant effect of foam rolling on paraspinal decreasing muscle spasm, pain, and increasing range of motion.
Conclusion: This study conclude that there is significant reduction in pain,muscle spasm and increase in range of motion in desk job workers with the foam rolling effect.
