Welfare According to the Qur'an: A Review of Al-Azhar Tafsir on the Verses of Welfare
Abstract
This study examines the concept of welfare in the Qur'an through the lens of Buya Hamka's interpretation of Al-Azhar. This study aims to understand how well-being is interpreted and explained in the context of Qur'anic verses related to the theme of well-being. The author uses the tahlili tafsir approach focusing on certain verses that explicitly address welfare, namely Qs. Al An'am: 82, Qs. Al A'raf 96, and Qs. An Nahl: 97. This research also explores how the interpretation of Al-Azhar explains the true nature of well-being according to an Islamic perspective. In this study, well-being is understood not only as the fulfillment of material needs, but also an inner state that reflects true peace and happiness. This research found that true well-being in Islam includes spiritual and moral aspects, where faith and pious deeds are the keys to achieving a good life. The research also highlights the importance of understanding well-being in a broader context, going beyond material indicators and emphasizing inner well-being as the foundation of ultimate happiness. This research contributes to the understanding of well-being in Islamic studies, particularly through the interpretation of Al-Azhar exegesis. These findings are expected to provide new perspectives for individuals and society in the pursuit of true well-being, as well as offer a different perspective from the understanding of well-being that is generally dominated by materialistic views.
