Moral Criteria for Couples in the Story of the Prophet Moses and the Madyan Woman in Surah Al-Qaṣaṣ: 22-28
Abstract
The benchmark that is considered by shari'a in choosing a spouse is in terms of religion and morals, because these two things can show the nobility of the couple. The selection of a partner based on religion and morals has been applied first by the Prophet Moses in QS. Al-Qaṣaṣ. In the letter, it is explained that Moses chose Shafura (the youngest son of Shu'aib) because the Prophet Moses already knew his morals. Likewise, Shu'aib chose Moses after seeing the religion and morals of the Prophet Moses. The purpose of writing this thesis is to explain the moral content of the Prophet Moses and Madyan women in QS. Al-Qaṣaṣ: 22-28. The method used by the author is a qualitative method with a type of library research that is descriptive and analytical. The primary sources used by the author include Tafsir At-Tahrīr wa At-Tanwīr, At-Tafsir Al-Munīr, Tafsir Al-Qur'ān Al-Karīm by Al-'Uthaymeen. The conclusion of this study is that the author found several moral values in the Prophet Moses, including: tawakal to Allah, compassion for the weak, patience, strong and trustworthiness, keeping promises and perfecting them. The moral values that the author gets from Madyan women are: filial piety to parents, murū'ah (maintaining self-honor), shyness, intelligence and gentleness in speaking.
