Abstract

The discourse on maqashid khamsah has become a significant topic in Islamic law, encompassing five primary objectives: safeguarding religion, life, intellect, progeny or honor, and property. This study aims to elucidate the views of Imam Wahbah Zuhaily in his work at-Tafsir Al-Munir Fi al-Aqidah Wa al-Syariah Wa al-Manhaj regarding maqashid khamsah in Surah al-Maidah, and to analyze these concepts within the context of relevant verses. The research methodology employed is library research, with data gathered from various pertinent literature sources, including books, journals, and documents. The focus of this study is on the verses in Surah al-Maidah related to maqashid khamsah. The data collection process involved an in-depth study and analysis of relevant literature. Data analysis was conducted through three stages: data selection, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of the research indicate that the verses examined in Surah al-Maidah indeed encompass the concepts of maqashid khamsah. Each verse underscores the importance of each concept, which necessitates intensive safeguarding and maintenance. The study also found that neither in at-Tafsir al-Munir nor in the text of the verses is there a clear order or stratification among these concepts, indicating that all aspects of maqashid khamsah are considered important without hierarchical priority. This research provides insights into how maqashid khamsah are understood and applied in at-Tafsir al-Munir, and underscores the importance of preserving each aspect in order to achieve the welfare intended by Islamic law.
