The Concept of the Soul in the Philosophy of Immanuel Kant
Abstract
Objectives: This research addresses the concept of the soul (self) in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, which represents a central topic in his critical philosophy. Kant is classified among the most prominent philosophers of the modern era in the eighteenth century. The research aims to clarify Kant’s philosophical context by exploring his life and major works in order to understand the framework in which his theories emerged, and to analyze his critical philosophy and its influence on the concept of the soul.
Methodology: The research seeks to explore Kant’s theories of the soul by focusing on the definition of the soul, its relationship to the faculties of pure reason, its essence and immortality, and the duality of soul and body. It relies on the descriptive-analytical method to examine Kant’s primary texts related to the concept of the soul.
Results: The research answers the question: How does Kant interpret the concept of the soul? And does the soul have a connection to his broader philosophical theories, including his epistemological, ethical, and metaphysical theories?
Conclusions: The research aims to shed light on these matters in order to understand Kant’s interpretation of the soul and its relationship to his philosophical theories.
