Immediate Effect of Graston Technique (IASTM) on Active Myofascial Trigger Points of Upper Trapezius Muscle in Desk Workers
Abstract
Aim: To find the immediate effect of Graston technique (IASTM) on active myofascial trigger points of upper trapezius muscle in desk workers.
Objective: To find the immediate effect of IASTM on active myofascial trigger points of upper trapezius muscle in desk workers using Graston technique.
Materials and Methodology: 41 Desk workers (age between 25-45 years) were selected by convenient sampling method with trigger point in the upper trapezius muscle. Pre NPRS score was taken, patient was made to perform warm exercises for 5-10 mins. For 5 minutes IASTM over the upper trapezius muscle was performed, post IASTM Upper Trapezius Stretching for 3 min 30 sec was performed. Post NPRS score was recorded. Statistical analysis was carried out using paired t test.
Result: On pre post comparison using paired t test we found that Graston Technique (IASTM) is effective in reliving active myofascial trigger point in upper trapezius muscle with p value of >0.01 (Extremely Significant)
Conclusion: The Study concluded that, Graston technique have significant immediate effect on relieving active myofascial trigger point of upper trapezius muscle in desk worker.
