The Use of Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Tracking Criminals: An Analytical Study in Iraqi Criminal Laws
Abstract
This research aims to examine the use of artificial intelligence technologies in tracking criminals from the perspective of Iraqi criminal law, and to analyze the readiness of the legislative framework to keep pace with technological advancements in the field of criminal justice. The research addresses the most prominent applications of artificial intelligence in security work, such as criminal data analysis, predicting criminal behavior, facial recognition, and monitoring suspicious digital activities. It also discusses the legal challenges posed by these technologies, particularly concerning privacy protection, ensuring fair trials, and determining criminal liability for errors resulting from intelligent systems.
The research employs a comparative analytical approach by studying relevant Iraqi legal texts and comparing them with modern international trends. The results show that Iraqi legislation remains limited in regulating the use of artificial intelligence, as it lacks clear provisions regarding digital evidence and liability for electronic decisions. The research concludes that there is a need to develop a comprehensive legislative framework that balances the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in combating crime with guaranteeing the constitutional rights of individuals, while simultaneously strengthening the institutional and technical capabilities of security and judicial bodies in Iraq.
