Revolutionizing sample lifecycle management: transitioning to a digital laboratory information management system
Abstract
The management of laboratory samples is a cornerstone of scientific research and innovation. Traditionally, scientists have relied on paper-based systems and physical storage for tracking and maintaining sample data. However, these methods are fraught with challenges, including inefficiencies, data loss, and difficulties in ensuring long-term traceability. This paper explores the transition to a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as a digital solution for managing sample lifecycles. By automating and centralizing data storage, LIMS offers numerous advantages, such as streamlined processes, enhanced data accuracy, and reduced risks of mismanagement. This study outlines the traditional challenges of paper-based systems, the key benefits of LIMS implementation, and the critical considerations for successful adoption from both Business Analyst and QA perspectives.
