Abstract

Patients and caregivers have a considerable financial burden owing to “asthma”, a chronic respiratory disorder distinguish by ongoing “airway inflammation, heightened bronchial responsiveness, and intermittent airflow obstruction”. The management of “asthma” is intricate and challenging due to the condition's diversity and the existence of several phenotypes. There is a distinct necessity for efficient adjunctive therapy for “asthma”, as more than fifty percent of “asthma” patients in the US experienced an exacerbation in 2016, despite the availability of several approved pharmacological medications. Suboptimal medication adherence, incorrect inhaler technique, and many patient-related factors impede “effective asthma control”. “Effective management of chronic illnesses such as asthma” need long-term follow-up treatment, with the primary care setting serving as an optimal environment, gives the crucial role of pharmacists. Patients with “asthma” can significantly benefit from the expertise and experience of pharmacists, who can educate them about their condition and medications, instruct them on proper inhalation techniques, alleviate concerns regarding medication side effects, and enhance adherence to therapy, all of which contribute to optimal clinical outcomes. This research will examine the essential functions of pharmacists in the treatment and management of “asthma”.
