Abstract

The integration of quality and sustainable development is a fundamental pillar in building a developed agricultural sector that keeps pace with climatic and economic changes and contributes to achieving food security and strengthening the national economy. With increasing environmental challenges and declining natural resources, it has become necessary to adopt a comprehensive approach that links quality and sustainable production.
Agricultural quality is defined as a set of principles and procedures aimed at improving the quality of agricultural products and ensuring their safety according to international standards, starting from seeds and soil, through planting and harvesting processes, and ending with storage and marketing. Sustainable agricultural development means the optimal use of natural resources in a way that ensures the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, through the continuity of resources and the stability of production in the long term.
Studies have shown that achieving sustainable development in agriculture cannot be done in isolation from the application of quality standards. They are two complementary concepts that together lead to more efficient, equitable, and sustainable agriculture, contributing to the production of high-value crops, higher yields, and reduced waste of natural resources. Conversely, neglecting quality leads to decreased productivity and resource degradation.
Furthermore, the application of quality systems such as ISO22000 and HACCP, or Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), helps to achieve sustainability, improve water and energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance confidence in agricultural products.
The research aims to analyze the role of quality and sustainable development in improving agricultural production and ensuring the sustainability of natural resources, and their importance in advancing the agricultural reality to keep pace with technological development and achieve effective and environmentally safe agricultural production that conforms to health and environmental standards.
