Addressing Critical Challenges in Front-End Performance and Scalability
Abstract
This article investigates the significant performance and scalability challenges in front-end development that were prevalent and addressed in the web community up to January 2020. By highlighting performance bottlenecks arising from excessive DOM manipulations, asset loading inefficiencies, browser limitations, and the impact of early JavaScript frameworks, the discussion outlines key strategies and solutions. It further examines scalability issues related to managing complex JavaScript codebases, architectural patterns, state management, and responsiveness across devices. Through a comprehensive review of established methodologies, optimization techniques, and best practices, this article provides critical historical context for contemporary front-end development, enhancing the understanding of foundational principles that continue to influence modern practices.
