Evaluation of Peak Expiratory Flow Rate in Outdoor and Indoor Gym-A Comparative Study
Abstract
Aim: To find out peak expiratory flow rate of indoor and outdoor gym.
Relevance of study: Evaluating the effects of indoor and outdoor exercise environment is crucial for developing effective physical activity programs that enhance both physical activity programs that enhance physical and mental health. This insights into this study aims to provide how different settings, influence Exercise outcomes.
Methodology: In this observational study total of 88 individuals were included which included 44 individuals who work out in outdoor and 44 individuals who work out in indoor gym which were included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Evaluation of peak expiratory flow was done by peak flow meter.
Result: The comparisons of outdoor and indoor means of PEFR were done by unpaired t test. The outdoor group average PEFR was 408.40 with standard deviation of 82. The indoor group average PEFR was 396.90 with standard deviation of 72. The test statistics value of unpaired t test was 0.70 with p value 0.49. The p value more than 0.05, hence accept null hypothesis.
Conclusion: The study concluded that there is difference in PEFR of outdoor and indoor gym, the PEFR values were seen higher in outdoor gym.
