Abstract

Academic research must be systematically and symmetrically designed to ensure clarity and coherence in presenting ideas. This systematicity benefits both researchers and readers by enabling organized exploration of research problems, aims, hypotheses, and conclusions. This study investigates the application of the bridging technique in linguistic research, focusing on its role in achieving systematic and symmetrical research design. The study addresses the problem of insufficient clarity in presenting the foundational pivots of research, which include problems, aims, hypotheses, and conclusions.

The primary aim is to demonstrate that linguistics research structured using the bridging technique is more effective and systematically robust. It hypothesizes that linguistics MA theses employing the bridging technique are superior to those without it. The research scope includes six MA theses in English linguistics: three well-bridged and three ill-bridged examples, to evaluate systematicity and symmetry.

This study offers theoretical value by guiding readers through the key elements of linguistic research, preventing confusion, and ensuring the alignment of all fundamental pivots. Practically, it aids researchers in verifying the integrity of their thesis structure, ensuring no pivotal components are omitted. The research draws on established literature in research design and methods, highlighting that effective design incorporates clear problem statements, appropriate methods, and structured timelines. The bridging technique, modeled after Prof. Dr. Fareed Al-Hindawi's approach, interconnects problems, aims, hypotheses, and conclusions, fostering a comprehensive and systematic presentation. This approach is critical for achieving well-structured academic research in linguistics.
