Factors Affecting Digital Transformation in Logistics Enterprises in Hanoi City
Abstract
This research was conducted with the primary objective of identifying and analyzing the key factors shaping the digital transformation process for logistics enterprises in Hanoi. To achieve this, a qualitative case study methodology was employed, conducting 10 semi-structured interviews with senior and mid-level managers from four distinct types of logistics companies, ranging from large traditional firms to technology startups. The study found that while leadership vision drives change, the most significant barriers are organizational, namely a digital skills gap and cultural resistance to new processes. These are compounded by the dual challenge of high investment costs and outdated legacy infrastructure, even as intense market competition and customer demands act as powerful external motivators. This research holds significant implications for managers, underscoring that a successful transformation requires investing in people and culture as much as in technology. For policymakers, the study reveals a disconnect between policy intent and practical application, highlighting the need for more targeted and accessible support programs to foster a robust digital logistics ecosystem in Hanoi.
