Abstract

Effective leadership is critical for driving sustainable development in Somalia, a nation grappling with significant socio-economic and environmental challenges. The country is marked by decades of conflict, political instability, and humanitarian crises, severely hampering its developmental prospects. This study therefore investigates how effective leadership influences sustainable development in Somalia. The study employs a comprehensive methodology, combining desk review and literature analysis, to explore the multifaceted influence of leadership on sustainable development. It highlights the importance of vision, good governance, capacity building, economic diversification, environmental sustainability, and collaborative partnerships. The findings demonstrate how strong leadership can foster resilience, enhance community engagement, and promote long-term development goals in Somalia. However, it was recommended among others that a visionary leaders should articulate a clear, inclusive vision for sustainable development that resonates with the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders. More so, leaders should emphasize the establishment of transparent and accountable governance structures to enhance public trust and engagement for strengthen governance frameworks.
