Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the deep meanings of the symbolism of Noah’s ark in this age. The ark of God is full of mystery and is still valuable nowadays. The phenomenon known back in Noah’s days are still recurrent namely wickedness, lawlessness and Godlessness is still the order of the day. The call of God to live like Noah is pressing in these end times. The trumpet of God is calling to emulate the example of Noah by living a righteous life to stay in God’s shelter. The methodology used is based on critical littérature review, phenomenology and Biblical methodology which is a method that seeks to shed light upon the historical processes which give rise to the biblical texts. It proceeds from textual criticism to redaction criticism, operating with the help of scientific criteria. The results show that we live in a similar situation like in Noah’s era. The present World is in total contrast with the World today where wrong is now openly promoted and applauded without shame. Rampant greed, discontent, selfish ambition, pride, and over-sexualization or lust is the order of the day. Materialism is the god of the present world. Modern technology and gadgets have made certain vices, such as easy access to pornography and open depravity. Alcoholism, immorality, stealing, lying, killing has become the norm. Humanity has lost his soul at the altar of self interest and despise for love. There is a call for redemption and coming back to Jesus Christ. The symbolism of Noah’s ark and the new age serves as a historical model of faithfulness and obedience, foreshadows salvation through Jesus Christ, and establishes God's covenantal promise to sustain creation.
