Effect of management functions on teacher's performance in senior secondary schools in Sokoto State, Nigeria
Abstract
The study looked at the effect of management functions on teachers' performance in Senior secondary schools of sokoto state. The specific objectives that guided the study were; to determine the effect of planning on teachers' performance in secondary schools; to determine the effect of organizing on teachers' performance in secondary school. The study was basically based on cross sectional survey that employed quantitative method. The total number of population under study was 6859. 370 questionnaires were administered to the respondents all questionnares were returned successfully The sampling techniques were simple random sampling and census inquiry. Data was collected through questionnaires which were based on four likert scale of 1 for Strongy Disagree, 2 for Disagree 3 strongly Agree and 4 Agree The data collected was analyzed using frequencies and percentages (univariate statistics), Pearson correlation co-efficient (bivariate statistics) and regression analysis. The study found a positive and significant effect of planning on teachers’ performance (sig 0.000); findings showed organizing and teachers’ performance were statistically and significantly related (Sig=0.000); In conclusion, there was a statistical significant effect between planning and teachers’ performance; organizing and teachers’ performance were statistically and significantly related, Researchers recommended that; teachers should ensure that, they adequately plan for lessons if they are to improve on their performance. They should also ensure adequate arrangements and management of instructional materials and learners for better learning outcomes.
