Abstract

The work centered on the role of guidance and counseling services on expected behavior of people in the society. The objective was to determine the level to which guidance and counseling improve the productive social practice and behavior of people in Nigeria. The study adopted by the researcher relied on secondary sources and descriptive analysis. It was found in the study that guidance and counseling approach had a significant effect on the social practice and display of productive behavior in our society. Professional counseling information can assist individuals plan and take meaningful decisions that will help the society achieve effective, efficient leadership, which are crucial in developing countries like Nigeria. The researcher recommended that, guidance and counseling services should be made available for all levels of learning the general public and should be adopted by government at all level, as a positive approach of fighting corruption, truancy and other antisocial behavior of peoples in our society.
